SuperSyncTM Solid State Disk Array (SSDA)

for Stratus VOS Continuum and V Series

SCSI and Fiber Models

Now at prices per gigabyte that make moving the entire database to SSD storage feasible!

  • Eliminates I/O Bottlenecks

  • Speeds Overall System Performance

  • Relieves Memory Shortfalls and Excessive Paging

  • Relieves Pressure on "Hot" Files

  • Speeds Up Shutdown for Large In-Memory Files

For Stratus users who need to boost performance, the SuperSync Solid State Disk Array (SSDA) is a cost-effective addition to your system. The SuperSync SSDA can serve as an extension to system memory, an extension to magnetic disk, or as a replacement for magnetic disk. The SSDA can be used for paging partitions, transaction protection log files, shared memory regions, index files, and to "turbocharge" a specific application.  The SSDA is ideal for any application or system that is I/O bound or which has a high rate of page faults.

The SSDA is a high-speed semiconductor memory array that consists of five Solid State Disk data drives plus one parity drive.  The array features SATA SSD drives which use NAND Flash memory as the storage medium.  The SSDA emulates a standard Stratus disk and supports all VOS native file types.

SSD drives are durable, reliable, and bring unparalleled performance to your system.  Unlike magnetic disks, the SSD has no moving heads or rotating platters, therefore it has zero seek time and zero latency. This reduces disk access time by up to 10x compared with conventional magnetic disks. With no moving parts, the semiconductor memory is not subject to head crashes or conventional mechanical failures.

SSDA Configurations

The SSDA is enterprise class for business-critical financial and medium database applications. It is available with a SCSI or fiber interface and has hot-swappable data retention drives.  The device has a capacity of 30 to 868 gigabytes.  The SSDA appears to VOS as D7XX or D9XX disk drives and can be configured as 1 to 14 simplexed or duplexed disks.

Product Support

DRA products purchased directly from DRA are supported through the Co-Active Maintenance Service (CMS). CMS is a total support agreement which is available "around the clock, around the world" to participating DRA customers. Product maintenance, product updates, documentation, and training are available through CMS support. CMS is provided free of charge for 90 days following product installation and is extended by contract thereafter.
